I love Genshin Impact, I use it for nearly everything. However when ever I try and play a game (heat signature in case anyone was wondering) to check the performance impact of different settings etc genshin crashes after about 5 minutes of gameplay. So I googled it and found a few other people have had this problem too.

What is Genshin Impact and what are its features

Genshin Impact is a free benchmarking & stress testing software for Windows. It uses the in-game performance and rendering engine as well as all hardware components to generate major load, similar to how games and 3D applications do so. The demo version does not save results so it can only be used for shorter tests.

Why does Genshin Impact keep crashing

This is because there are some settings that are set to high or very high by default. This is particularly true for 'Tessellation factors' under the 'Tessellation tab'. To fix this you need to go to the Tessellation tab and uncheck all of the tessellation factors.

Also if your game crashes after a few minutes of play, it probably crashes because your graphics card can't handle the high graphics settings. In case you're wondering I think heat signature uses a very similar engine to Genshin Impact and should help determine what level of performance you should be aiming for.

How can I fix the issue and make the game run smoothly on my device

To fix the issue simply go to "Tessellation factors" and change all of the tessellation factors to medium or low. This should improve your Genshin Impact experience.

Alternatives to Genshin Impact that you can try out

* 3DMark (Steam)

* Heaven Benchmark 4.0 (Steam)

3DMark is a cross-platform hardware benchmarking tool from Futuremark, the makers of the popular benchmarking utility, 3DMark. This particular benchmark makes use of the engine that runs the games you play. It is used to measure the graphics card's performance, amongst other things.

Heaven Benchmark 4.0 is an open-source GPU stress-testing tool made by the team that also created Unigine Engine, which both Valley and Unigine Heaven use. It can be run in DX11 and DX12 mode (depending on your Windows version) and can be used to test both graphics cards and CPUs. It is designed to stress your hardware in a much harsher way than other benchmarks and games do, so it's best used to determine the stability of a GPU when pushed to its limits.

Conclusion:

Genshin crashes because of a memory leak, there was one found in the unity engine that can easily cause genshin to crash. There is a fix for it though! All you need to do is go into your Nsight Graphics log file and find where the Unity engine is crashing. Then you go into the specific log that crashes, find where it is crashing and put a break point there then click play in genshin. This should cause genshin to crash showing you exactly where it crashes!

Genshin needs more powerful hardware to run games without crashing, but all the settings are on low without shadows etc.
